Masks
These are the templates for the initial coloured masks. The pieces of paper will move about and not stay static, and as one face looks at another it will begin to change colour to a new colour in reaction to seeing them, this represents the changing faces of people.
This is the 3D mask that will appear as the shreds of paper are pulled off, showing the depth of what is hidden underneath.
Rats
I then used tape to cover the wire of the ears and the wire of the arms, legs and tail. I then wrappes the arms, legs and tail in surgical bandage from a first aid kit and taped it on - this was to fatten out the limbs and also to prevent the wire from breaking through the modelling clay.
The tail acts as a support that allows the rat to stand on its own.
Modelling clay was then moulded into the features of the rat.
